I fulfilled my Father’s Wish to see me as a good Sports Person: Abdul Samad

Srinagar, November 14: The present cricket sensation of J&K, Abdul Samad in a recent interview with the Sunrisers Hyderabad said that it is his hard work that has bored the fruits of his success. Lauding the efforts of the J&K team mentor, Irfan Pathan, Samad mentioned that it was Pathan which helped him in the right direction to lead him where he is present. Without him, it wouldn’t have been possible.

Samad reiterated that J&K has an immense talent which is coming to foray from the last couple of seasons with players getting the lucrative IPL contract. He said, after Irfan Pathan joined here, things have changed a lot.

Now, the setup is completely different from what it used to be earlier. He also credited Parvez Rasool for the same. Samad said Parvez Rasool is an inspiration who has been guiding him the right way. Overall, JKCA has been quite supportive.

Talking about his earlier days as a junior Cricketer, Samad said that he used to hit every ball for big shots. My scores aren’t big too, it’s those small cameos. But after I debuted for the senior team, I changed my approach a bit by getting selective in choosing the balls to hit for big shots. Then, I started to score big runs. What matters most is your performance at the highest level to get into recognition and the performance at the senior level helped me to get into the IPL.

Talking about his family support, Samad said that his father never let him have face any difficulty while pursuing a career in cricket. My father is himself a National Volleyball player and he always wanted to see me as a good sportsman and I have fulfilled his wish. Mother too has been supportive but she also insisted on focusing on education too along with cricket.

Getting picked up in the auctions by Sunrisers Hyderabad was the happiest day of my life as well as for my parents.
Hopefully, we will get to see more players from the valley playing in IPL along with me.

Samad signed off with a smile!

error: I never liked to copy things that are out there. I always like to come up with something new, something different
