A person sold his wife’s Jewelry for bet Match: Exclusive report by JKSPORTSTIME

Srinagar, June 26: Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, everything has taken a backseat including sports activities. But with recent developments, sports activities have been resumed and tournaments are now being organized throughout the Kashmir Valley. But what is more disturbing is the rise of betting in cricket especially in parts of North Kashmir’s Baramullah area.

Few top-level players of the valley have been coming there and taking part in betting matches. A recent incident from the match was that a person sold his wife’s jewelry when he ran out of money. In another incident, outside the match, a man had put his car on for the match. With the reports coming, a huge crowd witnesses these matches which include even the respected personalities of the area. And there are no precautions taken whatsoever. All the players and spectators are without masks. There is no social distancing maintained. The players from Kupwara to South Kashmir are taking part in matches. Reports are also that a top-level player is being paid Rs 2k for the match along with refreshment.

In this regard, we contacted General secretary Baramullah Cricket Forum, Zubair Ahmad Dar and he said that they have already taken this matter with the police and administration. They have assured us that if they see this thing happening again, they will take strict action against those players as well as betters. Whosoever is found involved will be booked.

If this thing continues, next time we will expose the names of betters as well as players. Betting has put a strain on the ever-developing game of cricket here. Young players need to remain out of this for the betterment of their future.
